Greetings!

I’m Xiaonan (“Shee-ow-Nahn”), or Steve. I earned my Ph.D. in economics at the University of Rochester in May 2025. My research was supervised by Mark Bils. This website archives my academic experience, which is a valuable stepping-stone of my current life.
Research Interets: Macroeconomics, Labor Market, Search and Matching.
My research combines empirical and quantitative methods, often leveraging micro-data to explore the dynamics between workers and firms in frictional labor markets. I investigate how these interactions influence macroeconomic outcomes.
